Describe what the product needs to do

Begin with the application and a photograph, drawing or reference part. Explain what is being bundled or closed and whether the part is installed by hand or machine. This lets the supplier confirm the product family before quoting.

List dimensions with units

For a cable tie, include width, length and finished bundle diameter. For a push mount design, add hole dimensions, panel thickness and clearance. For twist ties, specify covering width or finished diameter, core wire, cut length or roll format. For tubing, provide both inner and outer diameters.

State material and performance requirements

Distinguish a preferred material from a required grade. Include relevant exposure conditions, tests, tolerances and documents. Do not assume that a general material description establishes a particular temperature, UV or application rating.

Separate the trial from the order

Provide sample quantity, expected initial order and likely repeat volume. Specify color, packaging quantity, label information, delivery destination and requested timing. MOQ, sample terms, lead time and shipping arrangements are confirmed with the quotation.

Agree how the sample will be accepted

Define the checks that matter on your actual product: fit, closure, appearance, installation and packing-line behavior. Record the approved dimensions and material before bulk production. Send the same information to each supplier so quotations can be compared consistently.
