NF PROCUREMENT QUICK GUIDE
How to Choose Nylon Cable Ties
A practical guide to tie dimensions, bundle diameter and loop tensile strength.

Start with the finished bundle
Measure the largest bundle diameter after the cables have been routed. Cable tie length and maximum bundle diameter are different dimensions: the strap must pass around the bundle and through the locking head with enough tail for installation. NF’s catalog lists both tie dimensions and maximum bundle diameter for selected sizes.
Read width, length and strength together
The NF catalog describes its nylon cable ties as PA66. For example, the 3.6 × 200 mm entry lists a maximum bundle diameter of 53 mm and loop strength of 18.2 kg. The 4.8 × 300 mm entry lists 76 mm and 22.2 kg. These are catalog entries, not a substitute for validating a selected part in your assembly.

Send Your Requirements ↗Keep the strength units consistent
The catalog reports most entries in kg, while the 10 × 800 mm entry uses 800 N. Keep the original unit attached to each number. Ask for the test method and agreed acceptance criteria before comparing quotations. Loop strength does not by itself describe mounting retention or the suitability of a cable jacket.
Specify the operating conditions
Tell the supplier about temperature, sunlight exposure, vibration, chemicals and service life. PA66 alone does not establish a UV-resistant, high-temperature or regulated-use grade. Request product-specific documentation when a particular rating is necessary.
Make the quote easy to check
Send width and length, bundle diameter, required strength and unit, quantity, color and packing format. If the cables need regular access, consider whether a reusable strap better fits the installation. Evaluate the sample with the same installation method you intend to use in production.
Information sources and scope
This guide combines NF catalog information with product-specific references. Other manufacturers’ examples describe their own products and do not establish an NF rating. Final dimensions, material grade and acceptance requirements must match the quoted configuration.
